Making Career Paths Work
Career pathing matters to individuals and organizations, employees and managers, and people looking for work. Yet the conversations around career growth are often harder than they need to be.
This session will challenge participants to think more deliberately about the relationship between ambition and opportunity. Through exercises grounded in self-knowledge and job crafting, along with candid conversation and a few hard truths, participants will examine what they want from their careers, what organizations need from them, and how to make better decisions where those two meet.
Participants will leave with ways to:
Define what they want and need from a satisfying career
Evaluate opportunities within a current organization or while looking for work
Identify where individual ambitions and organizational needs align, and where they may not
Approach career conversations with greater clarity, ownership, and realism
Identify ways managers can initiate career-development conversations that strengthen engagement and retention
