Our Mission 

Transform the commercial real estate industry by advancing the achievements of ALL women.

CREW DC was founded in 1979 to connect women in commercial real estate in Washington, DC, for business opportunities. Today, with an average of 500 members from every gender, our mission is to advance all women in commercial real estate through business networking, leadership development, career outreach, and industry research.

Our membership is open to all. Our diverse membership is made up of professionals, students, civic members, and affiliates from organizations involved in all aspects of commercial real estate, from development deals to projects to asset management. Members come from many backgrounds and include a cross-section of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, LGBTQ status, disability, parental status, military status, and industry experience. CREW is not just for women; people of any gender can become members and take advantage of the professional development and business networking opportunities offered by CREW DC and CREW Network. The variety of members we have at CREW DC enriches our network and creates the most opportunities for business development.

Our Mission Pillars

Facilitating business networking and dealmaking is the cornerstone of our organization. We provide valuable networking opportunities locally through our chapter and globally through CREW Network. Members also have exclusive access to CREWbiz, a digital membership directory, resource and referral center, and personal marketing tool. 

Building effective leaders is key to advancing the commercial real estate industry. We dedicate significant resources to providing our members with high-level leadership development training and opportunities to serve on boards and committees to develop and hone applicable leadership skills. 

Working alongside CREW Network and CREW Network Foundation, we are committed to bringing more women into commercial real estate. We host programs that educate women and girls about the career opportunities available to them, support college-level education through scholarships, and offer mentorships to those new to the industry. 

CREW Network is the world’s leading producer of research on gender and diversity in commercial real estate. Our research program produces industry reports quarterly, research papers annually, and a benchmark study every five years, delivering data and action items to advance women and positively impact the industry.

CREW DC is proud to introduce a refreshed strategic plan designed to strengthen our impact, deepen member value, and support the long-term success of economic parity in commercial real estate. Developed through extensive input from members, volunteers, and chapter leaders, the plan centers on four clear and achievable goals that will guide our work over the next three years.

Our focus is to empower members to succeed, providing the mentorship, connections, and professional growth opportunities that advance women in the industry. We will continue to be the premier place for business and industry influence, offering must-attend programs and creating meaningful opportunities for members to build relationships and do deals. We will develop leaders and strengthen the chapter by providing accessible pathways to volunteer and Board leadership, ensuring that our governance reflects transparency, inclusiveness, and excellence. And we will ensure long-term sustainability, building a resilient operational and financial foundation that supports innovation and continued member value.

Together, these goals form a strategic framework that is focused, actionable, and aligned with CREW DC’s mission. They position our chapter to grow its influence, elevate our members, and build a thriving, connected, and future-focused community.
